ReWalk Robotics founder to retire
The founder of ReWalk Robotics, whose U.S. headquarters is in Marlborough, will retire in November and not seek re-election to the board of directors, the company announced.
Dr. Amit Goffer will step down as president and chief technology officer of the company, which produces exoskeletons to help those with spinal cord injuries walk again. His resignation will take effect Nov. 18. Goffer founded ReWalk in 20001, following an accident that left him a quadriplegic. He pioneered the invention and development of the ReWalk Robotics wearable exoskeleton, enabling individuals with lower-limb paralysis to walk again.
"Amit's vision and innovation in pioneering the ReWalk technology allowed the dream of walking again to become reality for individuals around the world with spinal cord injuries,” CEO Larry Jasinski said in a statement. “We appreciate Amit's many years of dedicated service and the solid foundation his vision and leadership has built for our employees, ReWalkers and shareholders.”
The company’s exoskeleton has received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and was recently approved for insurance reimbursement.
Goffer served as ReWalk's CEO from 2001 until 2012, and has served as president and chief technology officer since 2012. He has sat on the board since 2001.

This is just the beginning of the journey for individuals with lower-limb paralysis and those with higher order injuries.
