Gulf moves back into upper Midwest with Wisconsin deal

Courtesy Gulf Oil LP is expanding in the upper Midwest with a deal that allows a Wisconsin fuel distributor to use the Gulf brand at its stations in Wisconsin and Minnesota.

Gulf Oil LP will continue its national expansion by bringing its brand back to Wisconsin after 20 years, the Framingham-based fuel distributor said this week.

Gulf returns to The Dairy State through a new partnership with Wisconsin-based Venture Fuels, a major fuel distributor in the upper Midwest. The deal allows Venture Fuels to extend the Gulf brand to the stations it serves in Wisconsin and Minnesota.

Earlier this month, Lykins Energy Solutions of Ohio announced it is bringing the Gulf brand back to Greater Cincinnati, also after a 20-year absence, according to a company statement. Lykins signed a deal with Gulf to exclusively represent the Gulf brand in that region, as well as the and the Northern Kentucky area.

Gulf began a national expansion after acquiring full national rights to the Gulf Oil brand from Chevron Corp. in 2010. Today, Gulf distributes motor fuels at more than 2,500 branded retail centers in 32 states.
