Nonprofit expands scope under new name

The Twin Cities Community Development Corporation has changed its name to NewVue Communities as it expands its mission to serve an additional 20 communities and cover the entire region.
The organization that has been serving Leominster and Fitchburg for 35 years will now serve adjoining North Central Massachusetts communities such as Gardner and Clinton. The change in scope reflects a regional approach to developing housing, creating economic opportunities, and fostering civic engagement, according to Marc Dohan, executive director of NewVue Communities. This approach makes sense as the North Central communities are closely linked together, he said.
“You have so many residents that live in one of our rural communities but work in one of the three cities, so the economic and housing health of one community can have a direct impact on other communities,” Dohan said in a statement.
Current projects for the nonprofit include plans for creating housing in the former Carter Junior High School in Leominster and B.F. Brown Middle School in Fitchburg. The organization is also a partner in Fitchburg’s Re-Imagine North of Main initiative, designed to improve the quality of life for current and future residents living in the neighborhood.
