Marlborough, QCC partner in dietary management program

Quinsigamond Community College (QCC) in Worcester has launched a new certificate in hospitality and dietary management for the spring semester, in partnership with the city of Marlborough.
The certificate will establish a meals program at the Marlborough Senior Center while providing students with hands-on experience in the food services industry. Students will participate in menu planning, budgeting and staffing and take classes on site. Registration is now underway.
“Whether in schools, restaurants, hotels or senior centers, (food services) is a career in high demand,” Patricia Hutchinson, hospitality program coordinator at QCC, said in a statement.
The program will also assist graduates in preparing to enter the field to meet the requirements for professional certification through the Association of Nutrition and Foodservice Professionals, according to QCC.
Meanwhile, seniors who use the Marlborough Senior Center will have access to a monthly menu designed by QCC, including lunch on weekdays and continental breakfast. QCC will also provide catering to meetings and events. The new program follows the opening of a new Marlborough Senior Center last year, which includes a professional grade kitchen.
