Ameresco inks $2M Denver contract
Framingham-based renewable energy company Ameresco has contracted with the City and County of Denver to provider energy efficiency services.
Renewable energy company Ameresco Inc. announced that it has entered into a nearly $2 million energy performance contract with the city and county of Denver.
After being pre-qualified by the Colorado Energy Office, Denver selected Ameresco to implement energy and infrastructure upgrades to city and county buildings that, according to the company, will guarantee energy savings through a regulated measurement and verification process. Any projected savings that aren’t attained are covered by Ameresco.
The project is a means to help Denver attain 2020 sustainability goals without incurring risk, according to a statement from Adrien ne Benavidez, the city’s executive director of G eneral Services. Those goals include reducing energy consumption by city buildings and vehicles by 20 percent.
The contract includes 88 energy efficiency improvements to 14 of the city’s most energy intensive buildings, including four recreation centers, four libraries, three fire stations and an emergency call center, Ameresco said. The company has guaranteed to create energy savings of 17 percent across all buildings, saving the city more than $2.4 million over 15 years.
