MetroWest transportation issues to be focus of summit
Officials and business owners from MetroWest will be addressing transportation concerns, such as this traffic in downtown Framingham.
The Boroughs+ Economic Development Summit set for Tuesday will tackle transportation issues affecting MetroWest with a panel discussion of local experts set to deconstruct the topic of transportation throughout the boroughs.
The summit will bring together business, municipal leaders and economic development professionals from the boroughs, Hudson, Hopkinton and the 495/MetroWest Partnership to discuss how to collaborate on the “Last Mile” connection, according to summit organizers.
The summit will feature a keynote address from Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito followed by a panel discussion and question and answer session. The panel will be made up of:
- Dr. Barry Bluestone, founding director of the Dukakis Center for Urban and Regional Policy and Founding Dean of the School of Public Policy & Urban Affairs at Northeastern University
- Ed Carr, Administrator of the MetroWest Regional Transit Authority
- Jim Robbins, Westborough Town Planner
- Paul Matthews, Executive Director of the 495/MetroWest Partnership
- Dave McCay, Partner at Westborough-based Mirick O’Connell and chair of the Southborough Economic Development Committee
By working as a team, the region can address transportation issues that many employers face, McCay said in a release.
The event is from 7 to 9:30 a.m. at the Doubletree Hotel in Westborough, and is sponsored by Westborough-based law firm Mirick O’Connell. To register for the summit, click here.
