Worcester 4th worst city for getting married

Wikimedia

A new study has ranked the city of Worcester as the fourth worse in which to get married from among 150 U.S. cities, citing high wedding costs and a relative lack of services such as hotel rooms, event planners and venues.

The study by WalletHub examined 150 of the biggest cities in the country using 18 indicators of a cost-effective, convenient and enjoyable wedding, according to the organization. The data included average wedding cost, number of venues and event spaces per capita and availability of hotels.

Worcester’s fourth worst ranking on the list was beaten out only by Newark and Yonkers in New Jersey and California’s Moreno Valley. Worcester was ranked 132th on cost, 138th on facilities and services and 142nd on activities and attractions.

Nearby Providence, RI did not fare much better, landing at 138th on the overall list. Even Massachusetts’ capital of Boston was only ranked at 141 on the list, being knocked primarily for the costs of a wedding.
