Clark University professors will take the lead on part of an $8.7 million grant to investigate the evolutionary process in a program that will bring $885,000 to the school over the next three years.

The Clark study is co-led by Susan Foster, professor of biology at Clark, and Kevin Laland, professor of behavioral and evolutionary biology at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. The funding is provided by the John Templeton Foundation, which is funding the world’s largest coordinated, multi-national project on the study of evolution.

The Clark study will focus on the process species use to adapt and diversify when exposed to new environments.
