Niche Hospitality recognized for wine selection

Mike Covino stands in the middle of his newest venture, Peak Fitness Performance Training. However, the entrepreneur's other venture Niche Hospitality, which he is the president of, was recently recognized for its wine selection at two of its locations.

Two of Niche Hospitality’s restaurants have been recognized by Wine Spectator for their wine programs in the publication’s 2016 Restaurant Awards.

Niche’s Bocado Tapas Wine Bar in Wellesley and The Citizen Wine Bar here in Worcester made the list of 3,595 restaurants in 50 states and 72 countries. These restaurants made the list by not only serving up quality food but by having a great wine list, according to a release from the magazine detailing the winners. The list recognizes restaurants whose wine list features a well-chosen assortment of quality producers along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style.

Wine Spectator, which has positioned its magazine as an authority on wine, noted The Citizen’s international focus, inexpensive pricing, selection of 95 different wines and 885 bottle inventory. Bocado received marks for its moderate price point on its Spanish-focused wines and its selection of 140 varieties among 1,150 bottles.

The complete list of winners will be in the magazine’s July 19 issue.
