Westborough-made device has dual-destruction capabilities

A hard drive destruction device made by a Westborough company can now be factory configured for dual media destruction of two different types of drives, according to the company.

Security Engineered Machinery of Westborough announced Monday that its SEM Model 0101, a National Security Agency evaluated and listed device that destroys computer hard drives of all shapes and sizes, can now be bought with a factory-installed solid-state drive kit, which allows it to destroy either solid-state drives or hard disk drives. It’s compact, portable, quiet, and vibration-free, according to the company.

The device can be useful for businesses needing to destroy confidential or sensitive information in a timely matter, and is in accordance with government regulations and industry standards, according to the company.

Security Engineered Machinery, which runs a manufacturing and design facility next to its corporate headquarters in Westborough, is the largest maker of data-destruction equipment in the U.S., according to its press release.
