ReWalk sells 100th exoskeleton unit

Marlborough’s ReWalk Robotics, Inc. has sold its 100th personal exoskeleton as the company looks to increasing adoption of the emerging technology.
The sale marks more than 250 systems sold overall by the company, with over 150 of those systems going to rehabilitation centers. However, the personal systems are those that are used in the home and community of those with spinal cord injuries, allowing them to move without the use of a wheel chair.
These sales come as the technology is being increasingly accepted by the medical and insurance community on the back of positive research findings, said ReWalk CEO Larry Jasinski.
“More public and private insurers are willing to procure and reimburse systems, the technology is evolving at a rapid pace, and there is a growing wealth of clinical evidence outlining the benefits of the technology to the health and well-being of the user," he said in a statement.
The ReWalk Robotics Personal 6.0 is a wearable robotic exoskeleton that provides powered hip and knee motion enabling individuals with spinal cord injury to stand upright and walk. ReWalk is the first exoskeleton system to receive U.S. Food and Drug Administration clearance for use in the home as well as in the rehabilitation setting.
