$1B Children's Hospital expansion gets DPH support

Wikipedia

The Department of Public Health has recommended approval of a proposed $1 billion expansion at Boston Children's Hospital.

The recommendation comes the same week as the state's Health Policy Commission flagged the project's potential to raise health care costs, and it includes conditions for approval that address the commission's concerns.

Children's is "pleased" to have earned the department's support and is reviewing the recommended conditions, the hospital said in a statement.

Meanwhile, a group suing the hospital to halt the controversial expansion will "aggressively pursue" its legal fight, attorney Greg McGregor said. The group argues the expansion will lead to the closure of a popular healing garden at Children's, which the hospital denies.
