Worcester City Manager accepts 3-year contract extension

City Manager Edward Augustus, Jr. has accepted a three year contract extension that the City Council voted last night to extend to him.

The 9 to 2 vote in favor of the contract extension took place in a closed session at Tuesday night’s council meeting. According to MassLive, Augustus currently earns approximately $200,000 a year.

The Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce had come out in favor of Augustus’ contract extension in a letter to the mayor from the organization's General Counsel and Director of Government Affairs and Public Policy W. Stuart Loosemore.

In the letter, Loosemore cited the growth in development that has happened under Augustus' tenure.
