A new report on the Massachusetts robotics industry from the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative and ABI Research found while robotics engineers in the Worcester area earned comparatively less than people in the same profession who work in other parts of the state, wages still generally exceeded national averages.

The report released in October, which focused on the cluster of robotics companies located within a 50-mile radius of Boston or Cape Cod, found engineers employed in the robotics industry around Worcester generally made less than engineers with the same job title in other parts of the state's robotics cluster, with the exception of computer hardware engineers, who earned more.

In the Framingham area, electrical and mechanical robotics engineers earned more than others in the robotics cluster, but software systems and applications developers and computer hardware engineers earned less.

Here are the annual mean wages for engineers, by profession, in the Worcester and Framingham areas, and weighted mean salary for each profession.

Electrical engineers

Worcester: $94,420, 1.4 percent less than national average

Framingham: $109,560, 14.4 percent more than national average

Massachusetts weighted mean: $103,827

Mechanical engineers

Worcester: $78,760, 9.6 percent less than national average

Framingham: $96,780, 11.1 percent more than national average

Weighted mean: $93,137

Software developers, systems software

Worcester: $111,670, 5.3 percent more than national average

Framingham: $111,240, 4.9 percent more than national average

Massachusetts weighted mean: $116,270

Software developers, applications

Worcester: $104,600, 5.1 percent more than national average

Framingham: $100,610, 1.1 percent more than national average

Massachusetts weighted mean: $110,562

Computer hardware engineers

Worcester: $125,540, 13.5 percent more than national average

Framingham: $114,740, 3.7 percent more than national average

Massachusetts weighted mean: $116,283
