Wrentham Outlet ramps up Black Friday security

Smart Destinations via flickr Wrentham Village Premium Outlets will have additional security on Black Friday.

Sales, throngs of people and bomb-sniffing dogs all will be a part of the shopping experience at the Wrentham Village Premium Outlets this Friday.

According to a report by NECN, with over 30,000 people expected to shop at the outlets this Friday, additional security measures include bomb sniffing dogs, police officers with long guns, undercover officers and a portable observation tower. In a conversation with Wrentham Police Chief James Anderson, NECN was told that Wrentham represents a potential soft terrorist target, although he stressed there has been no threat to the shopping center.

Kristen Murdica, the general manager of Wrentham Village Premium Outlets, did not address any specific security protocols, but said in a statement that the “safety and security of mall shoppers, retail tenants, and employees is our top priority.”

“We value and maintain a close working relationship with local first responders and law enforcement to ensure that the appropriate security measures are being taken to help provide a safe environment at our center,” Murdica said.
