Erland awarded $18M Worcester antiquarian contract

RENDERING/COURTESY This rendering shows the aged copper face the American Antiquarian Society plans to put on its Salisbury Street headquarters in Worcester.

Erland Construction has been awarded the contract for the $18-million expansion of the American Antiquarian Society that will give the Worcester-staple a new face as well as expanded conservation space.

The three-story, 7,000-square-foot addition will house a conservation lab as well as a new climate-control system to ensure the preservation of the society’s collection. Erland will work with New York architect, Samuel Anderson Architects, and project manager, Pinck & Co. of Roxbury.

In addition to the expansion, the team will overhaul the current HVAC system and construct a new mechanical room that will service the entire building. Onsite work will begin in 2017, according to Erland.

Erland Construction is headquartered in Burlington.
