With the help of a $1.5-million tax-exempt bond from MassDevelopment issued on Tuesday, Worcester early education nonprofit The Guild of St. Agnes will buy a 19,600-square-foot child care center.

The Guild is purchasing the center from the Webster-based MAPFRE Insurance Co., which also owns the building where the center and The Guild are located.

The child care center serves 160 children aged four months to five years. The 104-year-old Guild operates nine other child care centers, along with 13 after school programs and 115 home-based family child care programs.

People’s United Bank, which is headquartered in Connecticut but has branches throughout Central Massachusetts, purchased the MassDevelopment bond.
