Anna Maria receives $1.5K for defibrillation software

Anna Maria College will complete the purchase of new software that will assist students within the College of Health and Fire Sciences practice defibrillation and other techniques with a $1,500 grant from The Schwartz Charitable Foundation.
Anna Maria College in Paxton said it has received a $1,500 from the Schwartz Charitable Foundation in Worcester to complete the purchase of new teaching software to enhance students’ preparation for clinical practices and certification exams.
According to a statement released Wednesday, the software is a DART ECG Simulator that replaces a defibrillator and an ECG Rhythm Simulator. It allows students within the College of Health and Fire Sciences to practice defibrillation, synchronized cardioversion and transcutaneous pacing, among other methods.
The software will be particularly helpful to paramedic science students, according to Judith Kenary, vice president of Academic Affairs.
The Schwartz Foundation is a private, philanthropic group that supports Worcester County organizations.
