Marlborough airport for sale

Photo/FLICKR/C. Pulliam Marlboro Airport has been listed for sale for $3 million.

The owner of the Marlboro Airport, the state’s oldest privately owned commercial airport, has put the facility up for sale.

The Marlborough Economic Development Corp. confirmed Monday morning that owner Sandy Stetson has listed the 95-year-old airport for sale for $3 million.

Stetson did not immediately return calls for comment and details on Monday morning.

Stetson and her husband – G. Robert Stetson Jr. – bought the facility back in 1999, and he served as field manager of the facility until his death in 2012.

The airport has one runway and averages 37 flights per day, with 40 aircraft based at the facility, according to the airport’s website. It hosts one fixed-based operator, Don’s Flying Service, which offers flight instruction.
