Courtesy of the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development Monthly unemployment in all labor markets increased from November to December, but declined overall in 2016, according to the state.

Unemployment in Worcester grew from 2.8 percent in November to 3 percent in December while declining nearly two points from December 2015 when the rate was 4.6 percent, according to data from the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development (EWOLD).

Unemployment rates likewise increased in all Massachusetts labor market areas measured by the state in December, EWOLD said Tuesday, but unemployment declined overall in 2016 compared to 2015.

Data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows an unadjusted unemployment rate of 2.8 percent in December, compared with a rate of 2.6 percent in November, but over 12 months, the statewide unemployment rate declined from December 2015 when the statewide unemployment rate was 4.6 percent.
