Heywood lands $375K in pledges

Courtesy of Heywood Healthcare GFA Federal Credit Union of Gardner is one of two lenders that have recently pledged money to support construction of Heywood Healthcare's Quabbin Retreat in Petersham.

Heywood Healthcare announced two capital campaign pledges totalling $375,000, according to statements from the Gardner-based hospital system.

Fitchburg-based Workers Credit Union has pledged $250,000 to the Heywood Healthcare ‘Fulfilling Our Promise’ Capital Campaign, which is focused on three major capital projects. Those include construction of a new emergency department and outpatient medical office building at Athol Memorial Hospital, which shares administration with Heywood; the expansion and modernization of the Heywood Hospital Surgical Pavilion, and the development of the Quabbin Retreat, a new substance abuse and mental health treatment facility in Petersham.

Meanwhile, GFA Federal Credit Union based in Gardner pledged $125,000 to support the Quabbin Retreat project through the same fundraising campaign, according to Heywood. The 75,000-square-foot facility will open in three phases.
