Queen's Cups bakery moving to Worcester

Millbury bakery the Queen's Cups will move into the former Bucky’s building in Worcester’s Canal District later this year, the bakery’s owner said.

Renee King, who founded the Queen's Cups five years ago shortly after graduating from college, said things have been so busy at her 750-square-foot Millbury bakery that she needs to move. The bakery makes thousands of cupcakes a week and bakes for 30 weddings a year, she said.

The new space in the Canal District is 3,200 square feet. There will be an entire room filled with tables, chairs and small couches so people can sit and enjoy their desserts in-house.

King said moving to the Canal District is something she has wanted to do for a long time. With the bigger space, she’ll be able to hire four new people, she said.

Eventually, the bakery will be open later at night, and people will be able to go there and bring their own alcohol for a date night or to hang out with friends. It will be reminiscent of Cafe Dolce, the closed Worcester cafe where King said she and her friends used to hang out in high school.

Queen's Cups will begin selling coffee, King said, but the menu will remain largely the same as it is now.

“I don’t want to lose the feel that we have, or anything we’ve worked so hard for,” she said. “We’ll always be cupcakes and cake and stuff like that but now we’ll be able to offer coffee and a place to sit down maybe after you eat.”

The news of the move was originally reported by Mass Foodies.
