Alcoholic beverage commissioner named

Courtesy Massachusetts Treasurer Deb Goldberg named Jean M. Lorizio commissioner of the state's Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission.

Jean M. Lorizio has been named commissioner of the state’s Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission (ABCC), according to a statement from Treasurer Deb Goldberg on Tuesday.

Lorizio is an attorney who most recently served as executive secretary and legal counsel for the Licensing Board for the City of Boston. She started working there in 2000 and prior to her work at the Board, Lorizio worked in the Suffolk Superior Criminal Clerk’s office. She replaces Kim Gainsboro, who left the ABCC to work in the private sector.

The ABCC has control over the sale, purchase, transportation, manufacturing, and possession of alcoholic beverages in the state.
