Natick insurance group buys 28-person Newburyport firm

Eastern Insurance Group in Natick announced Wednesday it has acquired the assets of the Chase and Lunt Insurance Agency in Newburyport for an undisclosed sum.
The deal marks the 38th acquisition by the wholly owned subsidiary of Eastern Bank in Boston, as the group plans to continue to expand in the North Shore and New Hampshire.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Calls placed to an Eastern spokesman were not immediately returned Wednesday morning.
The 28 Chase and Lunt employees, including President James Howlett, became Eastern employees on Wednesday, and the insurance group is planning on rebranding the Newburyport office over the next 12 months.
