Curtis Industries buys Douglas company

Worcester vehicle components company Curtis Industries bought a Douglas company that makes pallet forks for front-loaders and other attachments.

Curtis Industries did not disclose how much it paid for Artillian LLC, which will continue to operate under its name as a division of Curtis. Its product line will not change, but its engineering and production facilities have relocated to Curtis' 150,000 square-foot Worcester facility.

Artillian is having two employees join Curtis' existing 125-person full-time staff.

The acquisition will complement Curtis' product line of cabs and accessories for compact tractors and utility vehicles, Curtis said in an announcement of the deal last week. The deal is expected to result in more efficient production and shipping, as well as an accelerated product development and introduction cycle, it said.
