UMass Memorial Medical Center of Worcester was named one of the nation's 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals by Truven Health Analytics, an IBM company. The study singles out 50 hospitals that achieved superior clinical, operational and financial performance in this critical area of cardiovascular care. The study looked at measures such as risk-adjusted mortality, risk-adjusted complications, core measures and 30-day mortality rates.
Discovery Museums of Acton were honored with citations from the Massachusetts House and Senate — as well as with a Commonwealth Award in the Access category — for its work in accommodating all visitors, including those with blindness, deafness or autism. The museums' Discovery Woods is a new, fully accessible playscape open to all. The Commonwealth Awards are given out by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
