Marlborough 43-acre development adding office space

Grant Welker A new Hyatt Place hotel, left, and retail space being built at the Apex Center of New England on Route 20 in Marlborough. Elsewhere on the property, construction has started on an office building.

Construction has begun on the first phase of what will be a 114,000-square-foot office or medical building at the Apex Center of New England, a 43-acre development on Route 20 in Marlborough just west of Interstate 495.

The three-story, 44,000-square-foot first phase, which started being built in March, will eventually connect to a larger five-story building totaling nearly 70,000 square feet. No tenants have yet been announced.

Apex Center is otherwise almost entirely already leased ahead of when the first tenants will open this fall. A Hyatt Place and Fairfield Inn & Suites, with a combined 245 rooms, are already underway, as are spaces that will become 110 Grill, Evviva Cucina, Starbucks, IC Federal Credit Union, Qdoba and others.

In all, the development will have 13 buildings totaling 496,000 square feet.

The project, being developed by Ryan Development LLC, will have an indoor entertainment complex with bowling, go-karts, laser tag, arcade games and a Planet Fitness gym.
