Southwick's Zoo begins rebranding

The new Southwick's Zoo logo.

Southwick's Zoo in Mendon has unveiled a new logo, the first change to its visual identity since it opened in 1963.

The new logo is the first step of what the zoo called a long-term branding project with Worcester marketing agency Envision Digital Group. Later this year, the 300-acre family-operated zoo plans a major website redesign meant to be more user-friendly, including an interactive map of the zoo.

The old orange-and-black zoo logo featured the silhouettes of a giraffe, lion and other animals. The new logo is simpler, with the zoo's name next to a head-on styled image of a lion.

“Our new logo better communicates and represents what Southwick’s Zoo stand for today,” Southwick’s Zoo Executive Director Betsey Brewer said in a statement. “We wanted to modernize and elevate our brand with a simple and striking design that was still, unquestionably, Southwick’s.”

The zoo opens for the season April 8.
