First bike repair station for Blackstone trail launched in Worcester

A new bicycle repair station, with basic tools, a tire pump, and safety advice, was unveiled Tuesday in Worcester by local leaders.
The station and neighboring exhibit are the first in a series of similar stations planned along the Blackstone River Bikeway, according to a Tuesday annoucement from the office of U.S. Congressman Jim McGovern. The bikeway starts in Worcester and continues down to Providence.
Next to the repair center is a steel exhibit highlighting biking in Worcester, featuring information about Worcester’s bicycle manufacturing history and a life-size silhouette of world champion cycler Marshall “Major” Taylor, who came to town in 1895.
The Blackstone Heritage Corridor will add racks for about 115 bicycles and three repair stations in National Heritage Corridor communities, according to the release.
