Holy Cross, Clark, FSU rebuff Trump, commit to climate accord

College of the Holy Cross President Philip Boroughs and two other college presidents signed a letter supporting the Paris agreement.
Three college presidents in Central Massachusetts signed onto a letter pledging their continued support to the provisions laid out in the Paris climate agreement.
The letter, called “We Are Still In,” has been signed by business leaders, investors, mayors, governors, and college and university presidents, reaffirming their commitment to clean energy days after President Donald Trump said he was pulling the U.S. out of the Paris Agreement. College of the Holy Cross President Philip Boroughs, Framingham State University President Javier Cevallos, and Clark University President David Angel all signed the pledge.
“In the absence of leadership from Washington, states, cities, colleges and universities, businesses and investors, representing a sizeable percentage of the U.S. economy will pursue ambitious climate goals, working together to take forceful action and to ensure that the U.S. remains a global leader in reducing emissions,” the letter reads.
Earlier this week, the city of Worcester also reaffirmed its commitment to clean energy by signing a U.S. Climate Mayors statement.
