The Boys & Girls Club of Worcester used a $65,000 grant from the city of Worcester to upgrade its lighting system, a project that the nonprofit estimates will save it $28,000 a year in energy costs.

Several lights in the organization’s clubhouse were in need of significant upgrades, according to a Wednesday press release. With the new lighting, the Boys & Girls Club will be able to utilize its entire building to its full ability and better serve the 400 kids who come in and out of there every day.

To celebrate the lighting upgrades, the Boys & Girls Club will host a ribbon cutting ceremony at 1 p.m. on June 14.
