Worcester added 7,760 jobs in a year

The Worcester metropolitan area added 7,760 jobs over the course of a year, while the area’s unemployment rate increased by 0.4 percentage points, according to the latest estimates Tuesday from the state.

The labor force for the area, which includes greater Worcester and parts of Connecticut, grew by 9,504 people, according to new data from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development.

More modest gains happened in the Leominster/Gardner area, which added 1,459 jobs, and in the Framingham area, where 3,741 new jobs. The Boston area added 71,447 jobs.
