Freight Farms relocates Boston headquarters

Courtesy/Transwestern Consulting Group Freight Farms' new headquarters at 46 Plympton St. in Boston.

Freight Farms, an urban farming startup company founded at Clark University, has moved its corporate headquarters from the Seaport District to Boston’s South End.

The company will now occupy 10,000 square feet across two floors at 46 Plympton St. in Boston. Freight Farms will occupy the first and fourth floors of the five-story building, which has a total of 25,000 square feet of office space.

Because of escalating rents in areas like Back Bay, the Financial District and the Seaport, there has been a lot of interest from startup companies on moving to other Boston neighborhoods, according to lease broker Transwestern Consulting Group.

The company, which designs and manufactures vertical hydroponic farms allowing any business, person or community to grow fresh produce year round, recently expanded into the European Union and Dubai and is growing its team to support the new markets, according to Transwestern.
