Brewery buys E. Brookfield lumber store

Google The former Howe Lumber on Route 9 is being sold to become Timber Yard Brewing Company.

A former lumber store on Route 9 in East Brookfield has been sold for a new brewery to be called Timber Yard Brewing Company.

The site, at 545-555 E. Main St., is a former Howe Lumber store just west of the Spencer town line. Howe, a longtime store in town, is now about a mile and a half down Route 9 at 225 E. Main St.

Timber Yard Brewing Company is slated to open next year.

The Worcester real estate firm Kelleher & Sadowsky announced the sale of the 41,000-square-foot building on Monday but did not disclose the price.

Timber Yard will join a growing craft-brewing industry in the area. River Styx Brewing opened last month in downtown Fitchburg, and Tree House Brewing Company relocated from Monson to Route 20 in Charlton last month.

Kelleher & Sadowsky separately announced last week it has leased 2,144 square feet at 41 Whitmarsh Ave. in Worcester to ABC Child Care for a child care and early-education center.
