Assumption College unveils new high-tech center

After 17 months of construction, Assumption College celebrated the completion of a new 62,000-square-foot academic center.

The Tsotsis Family Academic Center was officially unveiled at a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday.

The 62,000-square-foot building features 13 high-tech classrooms, seminar rooms, common study spaces, a 400-seat performance hall and rehearsal room and a multi-function space that can fit another 400 people.

Also included in the building are faculty offices for several departments and programs.

The building is named after Michael and Dorothy Tsotsis; the former is a trustee emeritus.

In a press release, college President Francesco Cesareo said every aspect of the building is meant to transform the lives of students.

“This building speaks to the centrality of the intellectual life of the campus and the centrality of our mission as a Catholic liberal arts institution, which seeks to integrate the classical liberal arts tradition with professional transformation,” Cesareo said.
