Northborough company releases new baseball simulator

A Northborough developer has released the next generation of the company’s baseball and softball simulation and training system.

InMotion Systems, developer of HitTrax, announced Wednesday the release of the HitTrax Motion Capture and Simulation System that the company says utilizes patented technology and artificial intelligence.

In a press release, InMotion Systems said the new platform is physically smaller than previous iterations and uses a two-camera system to capture an incoming pitch and outgoing hit.

In addition to the portability, there are also software enhancements to the tracking algorithms used to capture metrics during outdoor batting practice, the data of which is then used during indoor and on-field sessions, the company said.

An entry-level app, available via smartphone app, will also be released for Android and iOS devices early 2018.
