General Electric's Healthcare Life Sciences operation in Marlborough and Westborough appear safe from the major cuts the Boston company announced this week.

Healthcare is among the company's more profitable sectors, according to a report GE made to investors. The division is expected to have a 4- to 6-percent operating profit in 2018, the report said.

GE is expected to keep its healthcare, energy and aviation divisions, which are projected to be the company's most profitable next year.

Divisions such as transportation, with a project 25-percent loss, and lighting, with a 15-percent profit forecast, may be sold, reports said. GE will also be shrinking its dividend.

GE Healthcare Life Sciences has around 680 area employees and 11,000 in total, according to the Worcester Business Journal's 2017 list of the area's largest companies. There are three facilities, including office and laboratory space, in Marlborough and one in Westborough.
