Saint-Gobain acquires Pennsylvania manufacturer

Building materials manufacturer Saint-Gobain, with major operations in Worcester, announced Friday its acquisition of a Pennsylvania manufacturer of 3D-printed ceramic components.
The company said its High-Performance Refractories business acquired Spin-Works International Corp., which makes 3D-printed and extruded silicon carbide ceramic components to improve energy efficiency, recover waste heat and reduce emissions for a vast range of high-temperature industrial functions.
France-based Saint-Gobain, which a 230-employee location in Worcester, did not disclose terms of the deal.
Spin-Works, based in Northeast, Pa., has about 20 employees, according to a press release from Saint-Gobain.
In a statement, Laurent Tellier, vice president of the Saint-Gobain’s high-performance division, said the acquisition will expand the company’s ceramic industrial burner and heat recovery capabilities for customers in the steel and automotive businesses.
