Community Healthlink lands $50K for opioid treatment

Worcester-based Community Healthlink is one of six grant recipients across the state to receive funding from a new program designed to improve opioid addiction treatment and recovery.
Community Healthlink, a UMass Memorial Health Care-owned behavioral healthcare provider, will receive $50,000 to fund programs aimed at reducing opioid-related deaths and expand treatment options locally, according to a statement from Community Healthlink issued Wednesday.
The grants are issued by RIZE Massachusetts, a statewide initiative launched in March to support efforts to fight opioid addiction in the Bay State. Community Healthlink and other recipients were selected among a broad pool of applicants to receive money, the statement said.
The grant program, known as “Saving Lives, Improving Health: Redesigning Opioid Use Disorder Care,” is a two-year, $2.3-million program.
The first round of grants are for the design phase, in which recipients will build better treatment systems. Once they’re evaluated for their effectiveness, implementation grants will be awarded in June 2018.
