Main Street Bank in Marlborough on Friday announced it promoted two long-time executives to be its executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Joseph Normant is now the chief financial officer and executive vice president, having previously served as CFO and senior vice president. In the new role, Normant is responsible for all financial reporting, internal controls, investment portfolios and liquidity management, the bank said.

Normant’s financial career began as a staff auditor after receiving an undergraduate degree in accounting from Merrimack College. Before joining Main Street Bank in 2007, he was the vice president and controller at the former Westborough Bank before it merged with Hudson Savings Bank to become Avidia Bank.

Ellen Dorian, previously the Main Street senior vice president of the retail division, was promoted to chief operating officer. She will oversee retail banking, marketing, deposit operation and IT, the bank said.

Dorian, a 17-year employee of the bank, began her career in marketing for financial institutions in 1987, according to Main Street Bank.
