Mass Development has awarded $100,000 in matching manufacturing career grants to 12 Massachusetts partnerships, including three in Central Mass. receiving $28,000 total.

The program, AMP It Up!, is designed to educate children and adults about career options in advanced manufacturing.

Announced Thursday, the three Central Mass. groups landing the funding were:

The Central Massachusetts Center for Business and Enterprise, Whitinsville. The $10,000 grant will support the expansion of a program at the center, which is the nonprofit arm of the Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce.

The program works with local schools to match students on the wait list for Blackstone valley Technical High School with local manufacturers for year-long apprenticeship programs.

North Central Massachusetts Development Corp., Fitchburg. The $8,000 grant will go to the corporation, which partners with Mount Wachusett Community College, Fitchburg State University, SteelFab Inc., Rocheleau Tool & Die, Nypro and the North Central Massachusetts Manufacturing Roundtable.

The funding will address stigmas surrounding manufacturing careers by connecting school officials, students and parents with local manufacturers.

Quinsigamond Community College, Worcester. The $10,000 grant will help the college -- in partnership with Worcester, the Central Massachusetts Workforce Investment Board, Worcester Public Schools and the Blackstone Valley Education Foundation -- dispel misconceptions about the industry.

The group will use the funding to leverage resources from STEM-focused internships at local high schools and connect local manufacturers to students, parents and educators via social media.
