Acton mobile firm begins 5G network trials

Acton mobile technology firm Affirmed Networks is testing what it calls the wireless industry’s first 5G network in North America and the Middle East, the company announced Tuesday.

The company says a 5G network will bring a fundamental change to services delivered on the network, allowing more enterprise customers to use the network, which will drive revenue growth for network operators.

The company’s 5G Mobile Core is built on a web-scale architecture enabling rapid creation of new services, including support for 5G radio and a cloud-native microservices architecture.

With more customers on the network, operators must offer unique and highly customized services. With automated services provisioning and real-time network analytics, Affirmed Networks said it hopes its 5G Mobile Core can help operators offer those services.

In a statement, Chairman and CEO Hassan Ahmed said the company was founded to help operators improve service and reduce costs.

“With 5G, these business imperatives are even more critical to operators,” Ahmed said. “I am pleased that with the introduction of the industry's first cloud native 5G mobile core, Affirmed is once again driving the industry and demonstrating our unwavering focus on addressing the most pressing needs of our customers."
