Dave & Buster's slated for Natick Mall

Flickr/Mike Mozart Dave & Buster's has opened in Braintree, Woburn and Providence but doesn't yet have a Central Massachusetts location.

A Dave & Buster's entertainment complex is slated to move into the upper floor of the Sears department store at the Natick Mall.

It would mark the first Central Massachusetts location for Dave & Buster's, which has locations in Braintree, Woburn and Providence.

The Texas-based chain, which operates more than 100 sports-bar-meets-arcade spaces across the country, is seeking approval from the Natick Planning Board, which has scheduled a public hearing on the proposal March 7.

Representatives for Dave & Buster's did not return messages seeking comment. Mall owner GGP referred questions to both chains.

Sears said it sold its two-story space to GGP and is leasing back the lower level. The store will leave its second-floor space in April, and is in the process of remodeling the lower level to accommodate its products in the smaller space, spokesman Howard Riefs said.

The company did not say whether the smaller space would result in a smaller merchandise selection.

Dave & Buster's would be the second new notable tenant to replace an anchor store at the Natick Mall. Wegmans is slated to open a two-story, 146,500-square-foot grocery store at the former JCPenney location in April.

The Natick Planning Board will consider another development proposal virtually next door to the mall on March 7. Shoppers World, which straddles the Natick-Framingham line, is seeking approval to build a parking garage on the site.
