Carvana launches car-buying-and-delivery service in Worcester

In the Worcester area, residents can now order groceries, clothing and take-out via a variety of smartphone apps and websites.

Now, Worcester residents can shop for a car and completely avoid the dealership thanks to the launch of e-commerce car-buying platform Carvana, which announced the launch of its service Wednesday in Worcester, Boston, Manchester, N.H., and Providence, R.I.

The Arizona-based publicly-traded company says it offers residents the ability to shop more than 10,000 vehicles on its website or app, and finance, purchase, trade in a current vehicle and schedule next-day delivery in as little as 10 minutes.

The company launched its services in Springfield in February. With the three new locations, the company currently operates in 61 markets in the U.S.

Carvana promises a seven-day test period to ensure a purchased vehicle is compatible with a buyer’s life.

The company was listed at No. 34 on Inc. 5000’s fastest growing companies of 2017 with growth of nearly 8,000 percent.

Last month, the company reported 2017 earnings of 858.9, an increase of 135 percent over 2016, but reported a net loss of $164.3 million, a 76 percent loss increase from 2016.

Early Wednesday morning, shares of the company’s stock were trading at $23.98 per share.
