Reliant taking over Worcester Habitat space

Photo/Grant Welker Reliant Medical Group has gutted a former Habitat for Humanity ReStore, and will move rehabilitation and sports medicine services there by September.

As one of its many moves, Worcester-based Reliant Medical Group will move new doctor's offices at a former Habitat for Humanity store on Gold Star Boulevard in Worcester.

The building is being gutted and renovated now, and Reliant is due to move in this October with rehabilitation and sports medicine treatment.

The Gold Star Boulevard location, with an address of 11 Distributor Road, is across from a Shaw's grocery store.

Habitat for Humanity's Worcester ReStore, which sells used appliances, furnishings and other goods, is moving from Gold Star Boulevard to 640 Lincoln St. The move to the larger space in a multi-tenant industrial building was due to steady growth, Habitat for Humanity said.

Habitat for Humanity MetroWest/Greater Worcester, which covers 42 area cities and towns, is opening its second area ReStore. This location, at a former Sears Outlet Store at 310 Pond St. in Ashland,

The Worcester and Ashland stores are scheduled to open in May or June.

The Gold Star Boulevard site is one of several moves being made by Reliant in Central Massachusetts.

By September, Reliant will open its new offices at 5 Neponset St., near the Greendale Mall. That location, which is now undergoing renovations, will include dermatology, rheumatology, behavioral medicine and podiatry. Those services are now split between two Reliant locations that will both eventually close: at 425 Lake Avenue North and 135 Gold Star Blvd., which is down the street from where Reliant is renovating the former ReStore.

Two other Worcester locations -- 191 May St. and 300 Grove St. -- will close, with their services moved to 5 Neponset St.

Reliant will open two other area new medical office buildings next year.

In March 2019, Reliant expects to open a new location at a former Price Chopper at Route 9 and Maple Avenue in Shrewsbury that will include pediatrics and adult medicine. Next April, it will open gastroenterology and endoscopy services at a former Macy's home goods store at the Auburn Mall.

Upon the opening of those two locations, Reliant will close its 630 Plantation St. and 425 Lake Avenue North offices in Worcester. Reliant said the exact move dates are subject to change.

Reliant opened rehabilitation and sports medicine services facility last year at the Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center.
