The Headyco LLC has applied to the Cannabis Control Commission to cultivate marijuana in Worcester, the city's first recreational pot applicant, according to recently released documents detailing companies submitting all required packets.

In total, companies have applied for 16 licenses in Worcester County.

Leicester and Uxbridge each have two different companies applying for at least one kind of recreational marijuana license.

East Coast Organics in Leicester is applying for a cultivation and product manufacturing license, and Cultivate is also seeking a cultivation and manufacturing license. Cultivate was awarded the state’s first retailer license last week, but a testing lab must first be licensed somewhere in the state to test products before any sales can happen.

In Uxbridge, Gibby’s Garden is applying for a marijuana microbusiness, and Caroline’s Cannabis is applying for a marijuana retailer license.

Other applications are in Oxford, Webster, Bellingham, Ayer, Franklin and Milford, the last of which is the home of Sira Naturals, which was granted the state’s first cultivation license last month.

So far, the commission has acted only on licenses for Cultivate and Sira Naturals. Cultivate is the holder of a retail license, but sales won’t be allowed until testing labs are licensed. So far, no labs have submitted all of their required documents to the CCC.
