Luxury homes in Worcester County outpacing single-family homes

Luxury homes in Worcester County are selling faster than other single family homes, according to real estate brokers.

Sales of homes valued at least $1 million increased by 50 percent in June compared to June 2017, Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage said.

The median sale prices of $1 million-plus homes was almost $1.8 million, while the average was just over $1.3 million.

These homes were lasting 28 days on the market compared to 148 days in June 2017, highlighting the continued desirability of the area, Coldwell Banker said.

Despite the deep pockets needed to shell out more than $1 million for a home, the time on market drastically outpaces non-luxury homes, which have been on the market for at least a median of 61 days for the past three years, according to realtor.com.

Of the luxury homes sold in Worcester County last month, 60 were priced for at least $690,000, while six over $1 million were sold. One priced more than $2 million was sold in Shrewsbury on Bridle Path, Coldwell Banker said.

Sellers of homes priced more than $1 million got 96.2 percent of their asking price, compared to 86.2 percent in June 2017.
