Achieve TMS East, depression treatment firm with three Central Massachusetts locations using a brainwave stimulation device, now hopes to offer the treatment for obsessive-compulsive disorder.

A non-invasive device, manufactured by Israel-based Brainsway, was approved by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration last month to treat OCD, Achieve TMS East said in a press release.

The firm has previously been treating patients with major depression using Brainsway devices in 11 locations in the state, including Worcester, Leominster and Westborough.

According to the healthcare provider, about half of patients suffering from OCD are resistant to first line treatments, including medication.

The therapy is marketed as a non-invasive treatment with minimal side effects.
