Westborough-based Coghlin Cos. has secured a three-year contract extension with the Boston Red Sox and Fenway Sports Management to advertise at the 106-year-old Fenway Park, continuing the company’s presence at the historic ballpark through the 2021 Major League Baseball season. In an interview with WBJ, President and CEO Chris Coghlin spoke about the importance of partnering with the storied franchise.

When did this relationship begin?

2016

Where is the Coghlin brand displayed at Fenway?

We are proudly displayed in multiple locations in Fenway Park. Columbia Tech signage is on the third baseline, and Cogmedix signage is on the first baseline, both between suite and grandstand level. The Coghlin Cos. brand resides on the digital scoreboard on both baselines throughout the entire eighth inning, following our three brand animation show which is played on the LED boards upon completion of the seventh inning.

How has that been beneficial?

It has been beneficial in that it fortifies four generations of innovation, stability and longevity, and brings great pride of achievement to our caring associates, innovative client base and strategic business partners.

What have you learned from the Red Sox organization?

That we have very similar core values and belief systems embodying flexibility, integrity and trust. We both go to market focused on building strong teams with winning attitudes and are dedicated to great results.

Why is marketing like this important even when a company in an industry like manufacturing isn’t consumer facing?

It allows us to portray in a profound way that manufacturing today can be cool, innovative and life-changing to a very broad and diverse audience.

How is this different/similar to the company’s other marketing opportunities?

It is very unique in that we are proudly displayed in many ways digitally, stationary and on television, versus a single-dimension marketing campaign.

Baseball makes up most of Worcester’s news these days. Any plans to advertise at Polar Park?

We are really excited about the WooSox and Polar Park coming to Worcester! We are absolutely looking forward to collaborative discussions related to strategic community events and marketing opportunities.
