A Clinton woman will serve nearly two years in prison after being sentenced Monday for stealing money from the Russian Museum of Icons.

Jennifer Delorey McNamara, 36, the former business manager of the Clinton museum, was sentenced by U.S. Judge Timothy Hillman to 20 months in federal prison. Once released, she’ll be on probation for three years

McNamara must pay back $754,000 in restitution.

She pleaded guilty in April to wire fraud for embezzling the funds after being promoted to full-time business manager in 2012.

According to court documents, McNamara redirected cash destined to the museum’s bank account to her own personal account via unauthorized payments. The museum became suspicious in 2015 when she failed to provide board members with access to online banking information.

McNamara quickly admitted she stole funds to fuel an opioid addiction, documents show. In court documents, McNamara, via her attorney, argued the amount stolen was far less than what was alleged: between $250,000 and $300,000.
